Run #143, February 17th, 2002
It was cold, it was raining, many were suffering from hangovers, but a small group managed to assemble themselves at the Tajimi train station. The course looked like it started on Spoon Sucker because she had so much chalk on her. The start of the run began with a false start with everybody running up the stairs to the mall and then running down the steps on the far side, not realizing that we were supposed to run through the mall and across the railway tracks. After running along the railway tracks for a while we ended up at a very beautiful temple, that is supposed to represent Nirvana – it even had a fake waterfall. Then the trail brought us to a catholic church and retreat center. For some reason or other, there were many chickens running around the place, one of them being John. Others believed they saw rabbits as well, but I think that was just a ploy to make me drink more at the down downs.
The trail brought us to a pretty good playground and we then headed towards the city suburbs. A very large pink building was to be seen, and we seemed to be doing a circuit of it until we finally arrived at it. This was of course a Love Hotel, which Double Header couldn’t resist so he went in to see if it was his lucky day – it wasn’t! The last part of the trail brought us to a river, but John and I honestly couldn’t see the chalk and accidentally took a short cut. Damn, we would have to do it just at the end of the course so that everybody saw us.
After the recovery operation of locating and bringing back Sexy Babe and Demon the Down Downs were started. (Yes, they were found in a Ramen shop and No they weren’t eating – don’t believe it). Thanks very much for those who made the hot red wine, it was really delicious, especially on the wet and cold day. The Down Downs were given for wearing hats, wearing shorts, keitei on the course, for being hung over, for peeing, not seeing rabbits, and short cuts. A special Down Down was given to the religious advisors, Spoon Sucker and Shinkansen for forgetting to instruct the gods not to rain on a Hash day. There was also a special banana Down Down, which gave me a chance to show off my banana eating skills. And a very special 3 in 1 Down Down was given to Crash, as she will be getting married very soon, and is leaving for Tokyo. Congratulations and best of luck for the future.
The Hash Bash was held in an Izakaya in Tajimi, where we ordered many strange and tasty Japanese dishes, including “make your own tofu”. Crash was sacrificed to the Wasabi god, and made a hasty retreat to the toilets. Then things started to get very educational, beginning first with a grammar lesson. Spoon Sucker is desperate, John is more desperate and Bamboo Shooter openly declared himself to be the most desperate. The conversation went down hill from there, where we were educated about cowboy style, helicopter style and Japanese style – but I think we all need a proper demonstration to understand these styles properly, any volunteers out there??? While all this was going on, Silent Knight was quietly dozing, and was definitely in need of Viagra who was unfortunately not there.
And so ended a great day, and we all returned to are respectful homes.

多治見駅に13：20くらいに到着したがhasherはパラパラ。今日は天気が悪いので少ないのかな思いつつstart時間に。余りの少なさにもう1本後の電車を待ってからstartに。待った甲斐がありSilent Knight、Hot Tuna、Crasher、Sexy Babe#1が遅れて到着。Hareを入れて本日は11人。久しぶりの少人数。
本日GM交代後の初hashなのにGM Groperが風邪で休み。Shinkansen仕切りのもと本日のhareを紹介のはずがSpoon SuckerとBamboo Shooterの名前が出てこない。これはDD行きに。ということで多治見hashが小雨の中start。スタート地点の駅前でコースをロスト。みんなで5分くらいあちこち探しコース発見。走り始めるとコースは山の方に延びていっている。カトリック教会修道院に入っていく。修道院は葡萄畑あり、その下には鶏の放し飼い、感じのいいログハウス。ここでBBQをするといいかもと思いつつ通過。さらに山を登り虎渓公園に。あと1ヶ月もするとここは桜のメッカに。しかし今はまだつぼみ。さらに進むと虎渓山永保寺に。ここは禅宗らしき造りでShinkansenと立派な庭に感嘆。ここを抜ける途中に"look at rabbit"の文字が。確かにウサギがいたがShinkansenの姿を見たら奥に逃げって行ってしまった。ここから先は淡々とした何もない下りのコースになり、雨の中考えるのはあと何km、ゴールはどこになるのなかと思いつつ走っていると土岐川に出てきた。今は改修工事中らしく護岸のあちこちに穴ぼこが。川を見て自然が呼んだのかいきなりShinkansenが立ちショ○○を始めた。川沿いを走っているとNear Beerの文字が。そこからが少し長かった。川を大回りしてゴール。コースは10kmくらいのup-down、雨の為長く感じたコースでした。今日のコースは季節を楽しめるので紅葉の季節に同じコースで走りたいなと思わせるよいコースでした。
みんながゴールして冷えた体を焦げたポップコーンとホットワインを飲んで談笑。そしていよいよDDへ。これがDDラッシュの始まり。まず本日のHare。やっぱりShinkansenがSpoon SuckerとBamboo Shooterの名前が出てこないのでDD。本日のHare、雨、遅刻者、携帯、公衆ワイセツ、・・・と延々と続いた。そしてCrasherの結婚、栄転報告。めでたいので三々九度DD。その後もDDが続いた。
