Run #184 "Bonenkai Hash", December 21st, 2003
The 21 December was the Bonekai hash, and although the snow had melted from the previous day the ICE still remained and proved to be an obstacle on Gropers "Bridge Run". A brave 20 plus turned out in freezing conditions, but where was Tim? I thought this was his goodbye hash!, but he couldn't make it, so best of luck Tim if you manage to read this one day.
The so called short run turned into a marathon with the added extras of children's playgrounds, snow/ice ball throwing and the already mentioned bridges, hundreds of them. It was all worth while as the organized Groper, served up hot red wine with fruit at the finish. Although some walking (stopped in a cafe for coffee and cake!?) Hashers missed out a bit. We were honoured with a few late comers, including the rarely sighted Ninja now to be known as the Bonekai Hasher, as this seems the only time each year he joins the hash.
After the usual down downs a visit to a Onsen was needed to warm the blood.
What wasn't needed was the bucket of cold water (thank you Shinkansen) and my locker key breaking in the lock, and standing shivering and naked while it was broken open (don't picture this). The okonomiyaki restaurant was an excellent feast. Being the only gaijin, I decided to brush up on my Japanese and learn some useful words such as masturbation "senzure" (literally one thousand strokes). I always find "goZure" does the job just fine. Talking of which thank you for my two girlie calendars in the bingo game after the meal. Thanks to Groper for a great run.

天気は良いのに風があまりに冷たい師走の日曜日。今日はいよいよ1年の締め括りである忘年会ハッシュ。名鉄神宮前の駅に集まったメンバーは15人。日陰で凍えながらのブリーフィングの後いよいよスタート。
スタートからいきなりのチェックポイントがあったけれど、やはり熱田神宮方面へ走る跨線歩道橋が最初の正解。今日は神宮を中心に熱田区の歴史を巡るハッシュか！などと勝手な想像に胸を膨らませながら走り始める。しかし、しばらく走っているうちに気になり始めた。なんて歩道橋が多いんだ！これはHareの罠？それとも名古屋の特徴なのか？前日の雪が残りスリッピーな階段を幾度となく上り下りして走る。恐らくこの平坦な名古屋市内においてトータル標高100m以上は登っているのではないだろうか？
歩道橋で奪われた脚力にさらに襲い掛かったのが、チェックポイントと長い長い「F」！七里の渡しを手始めに、選んだチェックポイントはことごとく「F」で終わった。
気を取り直しトップ集団を追走する。高蔵公園の遊具でPiggy StyleをパスしたShinkansenと僕は、ついにトップのChiku BitchとMonkey Mを視界に捕らえた。しかし、ここから不思議な現象が起こる。そんなに距離をあけずに走っているハズなのになぜか彼らに追いつけない。大乗寺を左に見る線路沿いの道にも姿が見えず、代わりにそこには手付かずのチェックポイントがあった。やった、彼らはここを通過していない。トップゲット！などと喜んだのも束の間、ここも結局「F」。Shinkansenが先行しているはずなので2位かなどと考えながら銭湯前のNearBeerを通過し、ゴールの花町公園に到着。しかし、そこにはShinkansenの他にChiku BitchとMonkey Mの姿があった。なぜ？聞くところによると、彼らはShinkansenよりも早くゴールしており、線路沿いのチェックは見ていないけれどちゃんと正規コースをトレースできたらしい。
そんな出来事も笑いの種になり、ビールとワイン果物煮込み？を楽しみながらみんなのゴールを待つ。そしてDown Downはお久しぶりの人を中心に、寒さに震えながらも盛り上がる。銭湯で汗を流した後は、金山駅近くの鉄板お好み焼き屋で忘年会！ビンゴもあって席は大盛り上がり。走って呑んで食べて健康的な走り納めとなりました。
今年も気持ち良く走れますように！

P.S. スタート地点では姿が見えなかったNiｎｎｊａ、 みんなで、忘年会ハッシュは必ず来るのにおかしいねェ…と言いつつ走り出したら、最後のグループがまもなくＮｅａｒ Ｂｅｅｒを迎えようとしていた頃、荷物をしょったNｉｎｎｊａが、追いついてきました．時間を1時間、間違えたそうな。やっぱり、忘年会は彼ぬきで語れないですね．（ｂｙ Ｓｐｏｏｋｙ Ｍｉｙｕｋｉ）
