Run #242, September 3rd, 2006

Sunday 3rd September found a large number of peculiarly dressed half naked hashers congregate at Hotei station just north of Nagoya complaining about the heat. After severely annoying several taxi drivers after taking over their parking area Shinkansen proceeded to explain the rules of our hash to Kodamafs French friends who were most confused by the whole situation, or may be it was just my bad French! With the explanation finished it was off for a run around lovely Hotei, with Liz and others tearing off in to the distance followed by still confused looking French peeps, Flasher, virgin hasher –Loy and myself settled in for the slow pace more suited to the 35degree heat of the day! Any guilt we had about walking so slow was soon displaced when we saw the leaders only 50 metres ahead after sniffing out all the false leads! So lots of walks through little streets with a good supply of water fountains –very important!! Halfway through with the sun bearing down after having lost sight of the others miles ago a 7/11 came into view and Flasher crumbled. Seems the heat got to him and he called in reinforcements and retired. Deciding to keep walking virgin Loy and myself turned a corner and found confused French people with sunstroke being pushed in to Kodamafs cars and sent to the finish and copious amounts of beer! Alas being far behind now and with people dropping like flies in the heat around us Loy and myself continued stoically on. However after negotiating a particularly interesting allotment patch and Loyfs short shorts cheering up several old gardeners Kodama appeared in front of us and advised us that due to our slow pace and virgin hare Orgasm phonesf enthusiasm in making a course- about 20km long! – it was going to be Christmas by the time we finished if we didnft jump in the car. Anyway in we jumped and discovered that at the park indeed everyone was tucking in to the beer waiting –and had been for some time! French people were now confused, had sunstroke and drunk and everyone was generally having fun enjoying the sunshine. After an early farewell by Shinkansen we had several down downfs including all those in blue –everyone etc before people headed off to the izakaya! A hot and sweaty day enjoyed by all!
